News Letter Page Our News letter is published monthly Across The FenceWelcome to 2012 and with it change is taking place at LFG. As many of you know LaNae Fischer has decided to be involved full time in her own business (Steve's too) Fischer Bros. Trucking. I want to thank her for her many years of service and help in making LFG farmer friendly and wish her well in the next stage of her life. So, who is Jeff going to find to take her place? Many of you already know him, Jeremy Syrovatka will be the new employee at LFG. Jeremy will be working full time and taking care of the office duties on the on the two days that Jane does not work. He has a business major with a math minor so he will be a great fit for the grain and business programs. When he is done with those duties I told him he had to be me, and he still took the job! Stop in and say hi, Jeremy will buy the pop or coffee. FROM THE GRAIN CORNER: The market has had a nice rally the last two weeks thanks to dry South American weather. Corn has rallied roughly 80 plus cents and beans about a dollar. What I found hard to believe was corn only closed higher for 2011 by 17 cents. Beans were down by almost a dollar and wheat was down by about a dollar fifty cents. The next big market mover will be the Jan 12th crop report which your government will give final 2011 crop yields. Will they still be on crack, or are they going to join the real world? I had a federal inspector here the middle of Dec. to make sure all of the grain was accounted for. You will be happy to know that it was. I asked him what the government was smoking and he laughed (thank God) but in all of the elevators that he inspected he admitted that the bushels aren't there. We both agreed that part of that is because you the farmer have put up more on-farm storage. Now the bad news. He did find one thing wrong and that is he told me I am too lenient on open storage bushels. Starting Jan1,2012 any grain stored longer than 30 days must have a delayed pricing agreement signed or a check will be made out on day 31. Feel free to visit with us about this new policy. There are some market advisors that think the highs for the year will be set either before or right after the release of the Jan 12th report with normal growing conditions. What is normal anymore? It still takes rain to make grain and a good share of the Midwest is in a dry condition but this is the time of the year to be dry. FREE STORAGE ON CORN OR BEANS DELIVERED TO LFG UNTIL JUNE 30 2012 SPACE PERMITTING ALWAYS CALL FIRST TO MAKE SURE SPACE IS AVAILABLE BEFORE DELIVERING GRAIN. GRAIN MUST BE PRICED BY JUNE 30 2012. FROM THE FEED CORNER: 2011 was a year I feel that you the customer did not get the service that you deserved and I apologize for that and thank you for your patience. With an extra employee on hand now that should change. Please let me know your thoughts about how LFG can better service your needs. I am always open to any suggestions that you may have. CLOSING THOUGHTS: Striving for success without hard work is like trying to harvest where you haven't planted. For more exercise, put the TV and refrigerator farther apart. People who sing their own praises are apt to be soloists.
